The Fourth Division of the D&RGW was part of the narrow gauge empire in southern Colorado and northern New Mexico. My 1950’s-1960’s-era, 13’ x 13’ two-level layout depicts the standard gauge eastward from Alamosa, and the narrow gauge westward to Chama (NM) and beyond. The upper level is a loop-to-loop narrow gauge line passing through Chama, Cumbres Pass, Tanglefoot Curve and a freelanced Toltec Mining District, with helper service up the hill to Cumbres. All benchwork and trackwork is complete; the scenery with backdrop on the upper level is 90% complete, and many of the structures and bridges are scratchbuilt. Most of the rolling stock are assembled kits; the locomotives, a mix of brass and Blackstones, are equipped with Tsunami DCC sound and controlled by NCE walk-around throttles. The upper level is connected to the lower by a 4-1/2 turn narrow gauge helix, terminating at the dual gauge Alamosa yard and standard gauge line from Pueblo. Scenery on the lower level is 70% complete. See also https://www.railroadphotosbychuck.com/
